Dear Highland Families,

Reading is the most important skill we can teach children. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one you can have the most influence over. To help with this, we invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair during any of our shopping hours or special hours listed below and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging children to read every day so they can lead successful lives.

Each child will preview the Scholastic Book Fair during the first week of the fair during school hours and make a wish list to bring home for your review. If you choose, you may give your child cash or a check (made payable to the Highland School PTO) to purchase books when their class returns to the book fair during the second week. Attached is a book list that previews a small selection of the books offered at the fair. We invite you to come in and see the wonderful selection of books on hand this year.

Also at the Book Fair you can help expand your child’s classroom library with the Classroom Wish List program. Simply purchase a book from your teacher’s Wish List, add a personalized book plate and the classroom library has increased instantly! These make great holiday gifts for teachers as well!

Please look at the attached flyer for information on donating books to the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital through the All for Books program.

If you are all "booked-up" during the Book Fair and can’t stop in to see us, be sure to visit the Book Fair online at www.scholastic.com/fair and search for Highland Elementary School in Cheshire, CT.
